Penn and Tyler 2-1 Lambourn

Starting Line up, Eggleton, Dart, Bone(c), K Willmoth, Beale, Joyce, Griffin, Matthews, Goodey, Stroud & Mooney. Subs Rowbottom, Poulton, M Willmoth & Mcnally.

Press report provided by John Grimsdale (Penn & Tyler)

The visitors started at a good pace very eagerly and keen, which was expected. But Penn & Tylers Green FC worked well when Antonio Sepede flicked the ball on and a Wayne Booth header resulted in the vibrant Rino Sepede scoring early on, probably the fastest goal in the league today.

Penn & Tylers Green FC settled down and played well for the next 15 minutes then came a sucker punch from Lambourn Sports FC. The ball was picked up 25 yards out by Mooney, Penn & Tylers Green FC did not react and an excellent strike resulted in an equaliser for the visitors.

Then game went from end to end and our new signing Jamie West had a great chance and the ball went just wide. Penn & Tylers Green FC picked up again but the next – and best – chance fell to Lambourn Sports FC. A mistake at the back let them in but an excellent safe by Matt Cannings kept it at 1:1 at half time.

The opposition started brightly in the second half but never really hurt Penn & Tylers Green FC. We picked up the pace and started to run the game.

A good corner resulted in a near miss by Wayne Booth and Penn & Tylers Green FC started to gain in confidence. But Penn & Tylers Green FC nearly got caught out and another smothering save from Matt Cannings kept thing s even. Giovanni Sepede then made changes and Penn & Tylers Green FC were flying. Michael Benning closed down the opposition defence and a great pass from Chris Hurst released Johnny Mason who finished confidently.

With only a few minutes left Penn & Tylers Green FC saw the game out 2:1. It has been a long time since the 1st Team won their first game of the season.
