Pedder strikes last minute winner!!

Lambourn Starting Line Up: Petts, Griffin, Pleass, Bone (C) Keller, McCready, Matthews, Langford, Rackham, Guy & Pedder. Subs Willmoth, Dundas, Annetts & Eggleton
Chalfont Starting Line Up: Degelas, Wilson, Quantrill, Duncan, Harding, Williams, Holt, Sweales, Tripp, Webb & Mason. Subs: Feaver, Baile, Skinner, Martindale & Seddon.

Lambourn went into the game knowing that 3 points would take them level with Chalfont & put them into the top six for the first time this season. Rob Clarke had first choice goalkeeper Eggleton only able to sit on the bench after picking up a knock last week but welcomed back midfielder Langford after injury.

Lambourn started the game quickly and nearly opened the scoring with there very first attack as a corner was headed back the goal from Guy but just out the reach of both Pedder and Matthews. Lambourn had settled the better of the two sides moving the ball around well and creating the better of the opening chances. Pedder guilty of missing a free header from 8 yards out after a cross by Keller was flicked on by McCready. Holt had the best chance for Chalfont in the opening exchanges but he fired over after a tricky run.
On 24 minutes Lambourn opened the scoring a short corner from McCready to Griff gave the full back time to deliver, His cross was headed straight to Guy who smashed the in on the half volley from 10 yards. Pedder was again guilty of wasting chances either side of the half hour mark, The first chance set up by McCready with a clever pass sending the striker through to round the keeper but he delayed his strike allowing Harding the chance to get back and clear off the line. The second chance was a weak effort straight at the keeper after being sent clear by Guy.
Lambourn would be punished for the missed chances on 35 minutes when Mason delivered a pinpoint free kick straight onto the head off Chalfont's in form striker Tripp and he gave Petts no chance with a powerful header. It got worse for the home side 5 minutes later when some good link up between Mason and Webb cut the Lambourn back line to pieces and left Tripp with the simple task of tapping home from 5 yards. Lambourn created the final chance of the half as Matthews brought out the best in Degelas with a powerful header from a McCready corner.

HT 1-2

Lambourn started the second half on the front foot Langford and Matthews controlling the midfield and McCready and Rackham looking a real threat every time they got the ball.
Pedder was appealing to the referee on 48 minutes as the striker felt he had been tripped just inside the box but the referee waved play on and gestured to the player to get to his feet. Clark had to switch Rackham from 16 year old striker Dundas on 55 minutes after Rackham was clattered 25 yards from goal. McCready lined up the free kick and his strike was unstoppable as the power and accuracy took the ball straight into the top right hand corner. McCready nearly repeated the trick on 64 minutes after Pedder had been brught down just outside the box, This time Degelas managed to tip his effort round the post. It looked like only one side would win the game but Lambourn just couldnt find the break through, Pedder, Guy & Matthews all going close without success.
Dundas was showing some great touches & clever movement & only a fantastic save from Degelas denied the 16 year old a second goal in as many games.
With the game drawing to a close and Lambourn showing there frustrations it was no surprise to see Pedder talk himself into the ref's notepad for the 5th time this season & with Griffin & Matthews also picking up there 5th bookings the club will be without the trio for a vital fixture over the christmas period.
Pedder would show the great side of his game right before the final whistle as the striker raced clear of the Chalfont back 4 & gave Lambourn the win they deserved. A cool finish under pressure and it sparked mass celebrations from the players and management as Pedder was mobbed by his team mates.

Lambourn make it 4 out of 4 in the league.

Starting Line Up Lambourn: Eggleton, Keller, Bone (c), Pleass, Hendren, McCready, Griffin, Matthews, Rackham, Pedder & Guy, Subs: Willmoth, Rowe & Dundas.
Didcot: Fisher, Turner, Boshell (c), Berncsconi, Scott, Goodroom, Howell, Nobel, Hollis, Tappin & Howell. Subs: Taylor, L Newport & J Newport.

After last weeks 7-1 home cup defeat to Highworth Lambourn turned their attention back to the league. With Robert Clark looking to install the confidence back into the side after such a heavy defeat.
The game started at a real tempo with both sides struggling to find any room to play and it took until the 18th minute before either keeper was forced into serious action. A long clearance from Eggleton was flicked on by Guy into the path of Rackham the winger carried the ball 30 yards before forcing Fisher into a smart save at the near post. Didcot would open the scoring with there first meaningful effort on goal. Some slick passing down the right presented the ball to Howell just inside the box he turned and his finish left Eggleton helpless. Lambourn would only be behind for 5 minutes as Matthews exploited a gap in the Didcot back 4, Matthews turned on the ball just inside his own half and his powerful run took him past 3 players before he calmly slotted the ball home from just inside the box. Lambourn were now starting to control the game as Griffin went snapping into tackles giving Lambourn much more possession. McCready went close from 25 yards but his lobbed effort dropped just over the bar .
Didcot would exploit Lambourn's defence frailties again on 38 minutes when a deep free kick was headed back across goal to the unmarked Hollis who struck it first time on the half volley to restore Didcot's lead.

Lambourn would soon be back on level terms thanks to a moment of madness from Fisher in the Didcot goal. He tried to throw the ball out to his left back but it hit Pedder on the back the pint sized striker turned quickly took one touch and slotted the ball past Fisher with ease. If that was a gift for the inform Pedder his next was a moment of real class. Lambourn worked a free kick some 30 yards from goal that allowed McCready to hit a strike, The ball was charged down & it dropped to Pedder who stepped forward and hit the ball on the volley from 25 yards. It flew past Fisher before he could move giving Lambourn the lead right on the stroke of half time.

Half time 3-2

Lambourn started the second half slowly and it wasn't long before Pedder let his frustrations get the better of him, Talking himself into the referee's notepad and is now only one caution away from a second suspension since his return to the club in October. Didcot again would gift Lambourn a chance as a mix up between keeper and centre half gifted the ball to Guy one on one and only 10 yards out but the striker lost his composure and smashed the ball straight at Fisher. Lambourn could and maybe should of been punished for that miss when Howell's was picked out unmarked on the 6 yard line by a pinpoint corner but the midfielder snatched at the chance and fired over.

Clark replaced Hendren with Willmoth just past the hour mark and Lambourn started to take control of the game, Matthews went close on 68 minutes after a clever turn and left footed strike forced Fisher into a acrobatic save away to his left. Guy was again wasteful in front of goal after being set up by McCready. Clark decided it was time to replace Guy with promising young striker Dundas. On 74 minutes Lambourn finally killed off Didcot as a cross field pass from Pedder released Rackham the winger cut inside the centre half and smashed the ball home from the edge of the box.

Didcot were still fighting hard and they were unlucky not to pull one back when Howell's effort from 30 yards came crashing back off the bar and was cleared away by Pleass. Lambourn were still being very positve in there pursuit of more goals and McCready, Matthews & Griffin all wasted chance before Dundas made his mark on the game. A corner delivered from the left was headed home powerfully by the 16 year old striker. As time ran out there was one final chance for Pedder to finish up his afternoon with a match ball but the striker wasted his chance as he struck wide with only the keeper to beat.

FT 5-2

Pedder 2

Dundas

Manager Robert Clark said the next 4 fixtures are now vital to where we finish the season. We face 3 sides from the top 6 and with the derby games against Thatcham & Newbury it will be an exciting December. He added I hope to add Langford back to the squad for the game against Chalfont Staurday after he missed this one through a slight groin pull.

Highworth hit valley boys for seven!

Highworth put pressure on the Lambourn defence almost immediately from the off. There were a number of half-chances but Lambourn’s defence soaked up the pressure. After 28 minutes Lambourn, against the run of play, got the ball up to Rich Guy who shot cleanly to beat Kurtis Sharkey from 20 yards.
This rattled the boys and instead of letting their heads drop they started to really work at their game to create many more chances. Ritchie Saunders had two good shots and both Rory Sproule and Josh Parsons had opportunities equalise.
Shortly before the interval, after some neat interchanges between Ryan Thomas and Rory, the ball was fed through to Josh who finished comfortably for the equaliser. Some minutes later Dan Hilder made a great run down the left and crossed superbly for Josh to claim his second from close range to give the Worthians a 2-1 half-time lead.

Highworth then took charge of the game and were relentless in their pursuit of goals. Yet again a great ball in from Danny Hilder left Rory with a tap-in on 52 minutes to put Highworth 3-1 up. Rory scored another soon after when he linked up with Josh to split the Lambourn defence wide open and he hooked the ball over the keeper.

Lambourn did not give up however and Shakes had to save well from Matt Pedder. Dave Webb then brought on Sean McKeon and he too had an immediate impact on the game. A sloppy pass out from the defence saw Josh collect the ball, round the keeper and calmly slot home for his hat-trick.
Hilds produced another great ball from the left to Sean who was brought down in the box and after quickly dusting himself down, converted the kick himself for the Worthians’ sixth of the tie.
With three minutes left to play, Ritchie Saunders knocked the ball into Sean and a skilful bit of footwork left him with the easy job of slotting home for his second and Highworth’s seventh of the afternoon.

Lambourn have some good players and they played with spirit but on the day there was a difference in class, with the Worthians playing some delightful football, which was reflected by the large score line.

Lambourn through to last 16 after spicy local derby.

Starting Line Up Lambourn: Eggleton, Griffin, Pleass, Bone (c), Keller, McCready, Matthews, Langford, Collins, Guy & Pedder. Subs Dundas, M Annetts, Mcnally, Petts & Hendren.

Starting Line Up Childrey: Wise, Woodhouse, Macdonald, Wheeler, Doman, Bonner, Whitworth, Vaux, Eltham, Crawford & Wilkins. Subs Haines, North, Cannings, Pettis & Weeks.

With only a few miles separating the two clubs and a place in the last 16 up for grabs this was a real local derby. With former Lambourn player Crawford returning to his old stomping ground to add a little bit more spice. The game started with both sides biting into tackles but it was Lambourn who had the first chance, a defensive mistake from the Childrey centre halves allowed the ball to run through to Pedder. The pint sized striker raced through on goal but instead of slotting the ball home he tried tried to square the ball to Guy but under hit his pass and it was easily cleared for a corner. Pedder guiltily of trying to return the goal that Guy put on a plate for him last week. Lambourn were not to be denied and from the corner McCready picked out Bone who headed home from 6 yards. The skipper making his mark after missing the last 2 months with a knee injury.

The referee was to be one of the busiest men on the pitch as the tackles started to fly in, First into the notepad was Childrey's Woodhouse who was quickly followed by Vaux. Langford was starting to boss the midfield, The former winger has now been turned into a real central midfield enforcer.

On 37 minutes Childrey put together a fine passing that resulted in a fine cross from Whitworth that was met on the volley by Eltham, His strike smashing the post and dropping straight into Eggleton's arms. The referee was to be busy again as Griffin went into a 50/50 challenge with real aggression, Some Childrey players took exception to the type of challenge and piled in. They were quickly followed by a few Lambourn players & with plenty of pushing and shoving going on it was difficult for the referee to judge exactly what had taken place but he decided on 3 cautions. One for the original tackle from Griffin, One for Bone & one for Whitworth. With tempers still running high Keller was next in the book for a late tackle on Wilkins. Childrey would get back on level terms just before the break a quick passing move released Eltham on goal & as Eggleton narrowed the angle Bone and Pleass crashed into a tackle that flattened Eltham and left the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. Eltham dusted himself down and stroked the ball past Eggleton and into the bottom right hand corner of the net. Pedder managed to talk himself into the referee's notepad just before the break. The gifted striker's indiscipline is now a real worry for manager Robert Clark as the striker gets close to another ban.

Half time 1-1

Lambourn started the second brightly with Pedder going close and Matthews had a goal ruled out for a foul on the keeper. McCready was next to go close as he beat 3 players and his strike from 30 yards fizzed past the post. Crawford almost made a dream return to Bockhampton Road on the hour mark when his close chest control allowed him to turn and strike on his right foot narrowly missing the left hand post.
Both managers decided it was time to freshen things up as Eltham & Wilkins were replaced by Haines & Cannings & Lambourn replaced Collins with 16 year old striker Dundas. The over worked referee was back into his notepad again as he booked 3 more Lambourn players in the space of ten minutes first McCready for a succession of fouls, Pleass followed for a late challenge and then Matthews for saying a little to much to the official.

Lambourn started to really push for the winner in the last 15 minutes, Pedder and Dundas combined and Pedder's cross to the back post was just to heavy for Matthews as the midfielder stretched out a leg. Next it was Guy and Dundas to miss chances after a McCready cross caused a goal mouth scramble the ball finally hacked away by Wheeler. The final chance of the 90 minutes fell to Pedder, A great pass from Guy was brilliantly taken down on the edge of the box from Pedder but he dragged his effort wide and the game went into extra time.

90 mins 1-1.

Both sides created only one chance of note in the first half of extra time, First up was Pedder who missed from only 3 yards when he seemed certain to score. Childrey's chance fell to Cannings who headed over when unmarked only six yards from goal.

HT ET 1-1

The second half of extra time produced two more bookings and the winner for Lambourn. First up Crawford was booked for a late tackle then came Lambourn's winner. Guy, Pedder and Dundas combined to release the 16 year old into the box, He was tripped as he raced clear and the referee pinted to the spot. With Penalty taker Griffin off the pitch it fell to McCready to take the kick and the winger made no mistake as he smashed the ball straight down the middle. With the game drawing to a close Keller went up for a header and landed awkwardly injuring his shoulder and was replaced by Mcnally. It didn't take Mcnally long to talk his way into the referee's notepad. Lambourn with a total of 8 players booked in a ill tempered derby.

Manager Robbie Clark said he was pleased to get the win after our worst performance of recent weeks. Lambourn win 3 on the bounce!

Starting Line Up: Woodley, Smith, Nunn, Cooper, Edwards(c), Thomas, Tallit, Rann, Gordon, Sanyer, Isaiew & Simms Subs: Goodwin, Kaherty & Hiscock.

Lambourn: Petts, Griffin, Pleass (C), Rowbottom, Keller, McCready, Langford, Matthews, Rackham, Guy & Pedder Subs: M Annetts, Collins, Bone, Eggleton, Mcnally.

Lambourn went to Woodley without striker Adrian Mooney who has decided to take some time out from the game & Hendren missing through injury. Even with the loss of Mooney & Hendren Lambourn were still very confident after winning the last four games and already beating Woodley earlier in the season in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup.

Lambourn couldn't of wished for a better start after a defence mix up released Guy he drew the keeper out and rolled the ball square for Pedder to roll the ball home from 8 yards into an empty net on 5 minutes. With the length of the grass on the Woodley pitch making it hard for both sides to pass the ball. The tackles were flying in and Matthews received a warning after a late challenge. On 17 minutes Lambourn doubled there advantage, A diagonal 50 yard pass from McCready sailed over Thomas's head and dropped perfectly into the path of Guy he took it first time on the half volley lobbing the ball over the keeper from 20 yards. A wonderful finish from Guy who is looking to fill the void left by Mooney.
Woodley pushed forward and created the next chance on 20 minutes when a free kick was met by Tall it but his header was well stopped by Petts. Lambourn had to survive a succession of Woodley corners on 25 minutes some last ditch defending keeping the score at 2-0. New signing Rackham should of got a debut goal on the half hour mark a great delivery from McCready was headed wide when should of scored from 6 yards.
Rackham was again to be wasteful in front of goal on 35 minutes when Guy supplied the perfect pass to the winger in the 6 yard box but his touch was poor and the chance went begging. Lambourn were now on the front foot and full back Griffin went on a powerful run as he burst into the box he appeared to be tripped, The Ref took his time before waving away Lambourn's appeals. The next chance was crafted out by a great one touch passing move involving Pedder, Matthews, Langford and finally Guy as he set up Rackham to try his luck from the edge of the box. This time he hit the target with a powerful strike only to be denied by a great save from Smith. The last action of the half was a booking for Tallit as he dived in on Pedder.

Half time 0-2.

Woodley came out for the second half a different side and put Lambourn under pressure Lambourn picking up two quick bookings first Pedder showing his frustration by kicking the ball away & then Matthews followed him into the book for a angry reaction after a challenge from Gordan. Woodley were now bossing the game and they created a great chance for Isaiew on 59 minutes he was clean through with Petts but the keeper stood up big and denied the striker. Woodley would not be denied for long and on 61 minutes they pulled one back. Some slick passing around the box allowed Sanyer to strike at goal, Petts stopped it at near post but could only send the ball straight into the path of Edwards who smashed it home from 6 yards. This spurred Lambourn back into life and straight from the restart they went on the attack, Nunn Booked for a block on Rackham & from the free kick McCready picked out Matthews but the Midfielder headed over from 8 yards. Woodley wasted the next chance after Griffin had given a free kick on the left a great delivery found Isaiew unmarked 6 yards from goal but the striker headed over. On 71 minutes Woodley had the best chance to get something from the game Sanyer was through he took his effort early from 20 yards but Petts produced a great one handed save pushing the ball onto the bar and back into the keeper's arms.
Lambourn were next to hit the bar after a McCready corner was met by Pedder the striker unlucky not too double his tally. Woodley were now throwing everything forward but with Pleass & Rowbttom having another impressive game at centre half Woodley were denied any further chances and Lambourn were grateful for the full time whistle.

Woodley MOM Tallit

Lambourn MOM Guy

Manager Robert Clark said he was pleased with the 3 points after a real battle. We will play better than this and get beat in games this season. At times you have to grind out results and we managed that today. I also hope to sign Danny Pearce from Newbury Town FC in the next couple weeks but we have lost Keeper Stephen Lee to Hungerford Town FC.

Match Report and New signing!!!!

Lambourn 2-1 Letcombe

Pedder 37 Baldwin 50
Pedder 74

Starting Line Up's, Lambourn: Eggleton, Griffin, Pleass (c) Rowbottom, Hendren, McCready, Matthews, Langford, Rowe, Pedder & Mooney. Subs Annetts, Keller, Guy & Petts.

Letcombe: Joyce, Stone, Faircloth, Glover, Webb, Eatwell, Pendell (c), Brind, Denny, Gifford & Rutter. Subs: Baldwin, Horswell & Kent.

With Lambourn's recent good from they went into this local derby buzzing with confidence, Striker Pedder returned from suspension but stand in skipper Willmoth was unavailable.

The game started with a Lambourn penalty appeal after only 4 minutes, Langford's tumble looked theatrical and the ref waved away his appeals. Lambourn were soon creating again this time the direct approach as a long kick from Eggleton was misjudged by Glover, Pedder darted in behind but his strike was well blocked. Pedder was again in the thick of it as he earned a free kick 30 yards from goal, Mooney took aim and only a great one handed save from Joyce prevented the veteran striker from opening the scoring. A high tackle from Pendell on Langford brought the games first booking.

Lambourn were in control of the game and the chances started to come, McCready going on a powerful run from inside his own half and unleashing an effort from 30 yards only to be denied by a great block from Faircloth. The ball fell straight into the path of Mooney who's chipped effort dropped just over the bar. Letcombe nearly caught the Lambourn on the counter attack when a quick free kick released Denny but the striker missed the target from 12 yards. Pedder was to miss one of the easiest chances of his career after a clever ball from Mooney sent him through on goal he showed great composure as he rounded Joyce but then somehow he hit the post from only 3 yards. It was proving to be a frustrating afternoon as Matthews, Mooney & Pedder again all had chances only to be denied by Joyce. Rowbottom was next to miss as his unmarked header from 7 yards missed the target.

On 37 minutes a moment of real quality that opened the scoring, A quickly taken free kick from Mooney out on the right was met by Pedder on the volley the ball flying into the top corner before Joyce could move. Lambourn created the last chance of the half as a great cross from Mccready was met by Langford with a powerful header from 10 yards out, his effort came back off the post and span wide to Mooney he drove the ball across goal but Rowbottom was offside as he finished from 5 yards. 1-0 to the home side but the management disappointed the lead was only one.

Some tough words from the Letcombe manager Gifford at half time meant Letcombe came out looking alot sharper in the second half and it wasn't long before they were back on level terms. A delivery in from the left caused panic in the Lambourn defence allowing Baldwin to steal in unmarked and head in from 6 yards. Letcombe had shaken off there poor first half performance and had Lambourn on the back foot, A clever worked corner allowed Eatwell to strike from the edge of the box. Griffin had stayed alert on the post and managed to clear off the line. Lambourn were forced into a change as Guy replaced Hendren, The defenders ankle injury finally got the better of him after a crunching tackle. He now looks set to miss the trip to Woodley this weekend. On 65 minutes Griffin got himself into the ref's notebook for the 4th time this season after a lunging tackle on Gifford.

Both sides made changes as Lambourn replaced Mooney with Keller and Letcombe sub Horswell came off the bench to make a real impact but with no reward. The striker hit a great curling effort from 20 yards but was denied by Eggleton at full stretch down to his right. With 15 minutes to go Lambourn got the winner as a McCready diagonal ball was headed back across goal from Guy into Pedder's path & the striker's volley from close range left Joyce stranded. Letcombe wouldn't accept defeat easily and Horswell had a great chance to get a point when put through one on one with Eggleton but the keeper denied him again as he stayed big and blocked the effort with his right boot. Lambourn were now being forced into some last ditch tackles and Pleass was booked for a lunge and Keller booked for a trip. As the game was coming to a close Letcombe created one more chance and should of got the equaliser. Griffin got a second yellow and was sent off for a shirt pull just outside the box but as the ref blew for the free kick Horswell headed the ball over the keeper and into the net but to the Letcombe striker's disappointment the ref pulled it back for the free kick. This was to be the last kick of the game but it was wasted as the free kick was blasted into the wall and Lambourn got back to back win's in the league for the first time this season.

Lambourn win on Pens after 8 goal thriller!!

Starting Line Up Lambourn: Eggleton, Griffin, Pleass, Willmoth (c) Hendren, McCready, Langford, Matthews, Rowe, Guy & Mooney. Subs: Rowbottom, Collins & Annetts.

Highmoor Ibis: Elton, Gallimore, Campbell, Lynch, Eade, Theophanides, Alleyne, Griffin, (C) Baker, Small-King & Brown Subs: Fordie-small, Richardson, Reid & Peacock.

Lambourn took a break from league action as they entered the Bluefin Insurance Challenge Cup. With Wood & Bone still missing through injury and Pedder suspended Rob Clark plucked John Rowe from the Res for his first full game at Hellenic level. Rowe really impressed & will be hoping to hang onto the shirt for the visit of Letcombe this weekend.

The game started with both sides having early chances, Guy missing his chance after some good work by Rowe, Matthews & Mooney. While Guy was wasteful in front of goal Baker was not so generous, Willmoth missed judged his header and Baker took a good touch before a great strike. 1-0 to the away side after only 8 minutes. Eggleton was called into action soon after when Baker hit a great free kick from 20 yards. The keeper diving full stretch to his right to turn the ball round the post.

Guy was soon to make up for his early miss when Mooney picked out the striker with a pinpoint cross, He headed home powerfully from 10 yards. Lambourn were now starting to get into there passing game and after a great one touch move between Guy, Mooney & Rowe it was Guy again who found himself in on goal, The striker really should of scored but Elton produced a great save from 6 yards. Lambourn had the ball in the net on the half hour mark after a powerful run from Griffin and a clever pass released Rowe, He finished well but was denied by a linesman flag. The next effort on goal gave Lambourn the lead as Matthews delivered his contender for goal of the season, The Midfielder picked up the ball 40 yards from goal beat his man & unleashed a unstoppable strike from 30 yards. The keeper hardly moved as the ball flew over him and dipped into the top left corner.

Lambourn had some defending to do to get to half time in the lead, A mistake from Eggleton as he dropped a cross the ball dropping to Griffin but Matthews had spotted the danger and was on hand to clear off the line.

Half time 2-1

Highmoor started the second half at a real tempo and on 55 minutes they levelled, A great solo effort from Griffin as he danced past 3 challenges before smashing the ball home from 12 yards. Highmoor were on top now and only some great defending from Pleass was keeping them at bay. A poor clearance from Eggleton gifted Griffin with a chance but the Skipper gave Eggleton the chance to make up for his mistake as the midfielder dwelled on the ball & the keeper blocked well at his feet.

It took Lamboun 75 minutes before they started to create chances but they created 3 in as many minutes first McCready had a free kick saved low to the keepers right. Next a McCready delivery was volleyed over by Matthews before they got the break through. Mooney delivered the ball to the back post Matthews headed the ball back across goal & Willmoth throw himself at it to score from 6 yards.

As the game was drawing to a close it looked like that would be a end to the goal scoring but Highmoor had other ideas, Great pressure in midfield forced Mooney into giving the ball away a great pass from Griffin released Baker and the striker showed great composure taking a couple of touches before leaving Eggleton with no chance.

The ref confirmed 3 minutes of stoppage time and that was long enough for both sides to grab another goal each. First Lambourn thought they had scored the winner when Rowe picked out Guy at the back post and the striker got his second of the game after a simple header. Highmoor equalised with the last kick of the game after a poor header dropped to Alleyne on the edge of the box, His first time volley was unstoppable.

90 Mins 4-4

Extra time was a midfield battle with both sides desperate not to make a mistake, only two real chances were created and one booking. McCready & Baker both missing the chances and Annetts getting the booking. So to penalty kicks:

Griffin: Scored

Pleass: Scored

Annetts: Scored

Manager Rob Clark was worried by the goals conceded but with centre half & club captain Bone due back from injury soon he hopes things will soon tighten up. He was very impressed with Rowe on debut he said " For a lad of his size he could of easily been bullied out there today but he showed great commitment and has a good football brain.

Clark also announced the signings of James Keller from Fairford along with Ross Petts from Newbury & i am looking to add one more face in the next few days. With Fraser Joyce & David Stroud leaving the club we needed to add in certain areas he added.

Clark victory over former team!!

Lambourn Sports FC 3-1 Thatcham Town Res, Attendance 42.

Starting line Up's:

Lambourn: Eggleton, Griffin, Pleass, Willmoth (c), Hendren, McCready, Langford, Matthews, Guy, Pedder & Mooney. Subs Rowbottom, Rowe, Annetts, Beale & Wood.

Thatcham: Drake, Mclean, Mandry, Browne, Brown, Hamilton, Tingle, Sullivan, Riccio, Throp & Benham. Subs Anderson, Butcher, Digweed & Striland.

This was a local derby neither side wanted to lose and after Thatcham manager Garry Cook spent hours on the phone Friday night texting and phoning Lambourn players they needed no extra motivation. Thatcham started the game with a very direct approach and on 5 minutes a long ball into Throp earned the away side a early free kick 25 yards from goal. Browne took his time over the free kick but to no avail as he fired 5 yards over the top. After Matthew Pedder's recent transfer from Thatcham he was in for a rough afternoon, Tingle with a very aggressive tackle on him 20 yards inside the Thatcham half. Tingle was booked and from the free kick Lambourn worked a clever free kick along the ground which freed Guy some 8 yards from goal but his low drive was well blocked by Drake. Lambourn were getting on top and on 11 minutes they had the ball in the net from a Matthew's header only to be denied by the officials flag.

A strange moment next as the referee had to call a halt to the game. Garry Cook (Thatcham Res Manager) decided to leave his technical area & walk around the pitch going through the no spectators barrier and started shouting instructions from the far side of the pitch. The game was held up for a minute as Garry was asked to return to his technical area.

Lambourn created the next chance as Langford's work rate earned the home side a corner & Mooney's delivery was inches away from Guy at the back post. On 17 minutes Thatcham picked up their second booking of the game as Mandry chopped down Pedder from behind.

Thatcham were hitting the long ball and on 25 minutes it worked reward as Thorp out jumped Willmoth to flick on to Benham who's first touch was sublime, Pleass rushed in but Benham flicked the ball over the centre halfs head and fired in on the volley from 15 yards. A great finish from the pint size striker who will be a real loss to Thatcham when he goes under the knife in mid-November for an operation that could end his season.

Lambourn were playing all the football and a fantastic cross field pass from McCready freed Guy but the striker wasted his chance from the edge of area. Lambourn were now bossing the play much to the frustrations of Garry Cook, He was warned again for leaving his technical area.

McCready was starting to grow into the game and the next time he got the ball just inside his own half, Drove past 4 Thatcham players and unleashed a fantastic strike from 25 yards only to be denied by a great stop from Drake. Langford, Matthews, Mooney & Pedder were playing some fine one touch football and cutting through the Thatcham back four at will. Mooney firing one chance just over the bar from the edge of the box.

Lambourn finally got level just before half time, After another foul on Pedder, Mooney delivered a free kick from 30 yards towards the back post, Willmoth rose highest but missed his header giving Drake no time to react as the ball dropped into the far corner without a touch.

Pedder allowed the achilles heel of his game to raise it's head again as the skilful striker was booked for dissent, He is already banned for this weekend's cup game & his indiscipline is a worry for manager Robert Clark.

Thatcham created the last chance of the half as some neat one touch play around the Lambourn box allowed Tingle to pull the trigger from the edge of the box, Hendren throw himself into the flight of the ball to deflect wide what looked a goal bound effort.

Lambourn came flying out for the second half and it wasn't long before they were creating more chances, Some sharp passing between McCready & Mooney released Guy the winger cutting in from the left seemed certain to score but he fired his shoot well wide. Matthews and Langford soon gained control in the midfield, Langford having a fantastic game starting in the centre midfield position for the first time. The next chance fell to Mooney, McCready delivered a quick free kick to Mooney who fired just over on the volley. The same two combined for the next time this time Mooney the supplier as he hit a cross field pass that McCready raced onto beat Mandry for pace but the winger rushed his strike & fired wide.

Brown seemed to let his frustrations get the better of him on 58 minutes as he flew into a tackle on McCready. The centre half left the ground and was quickly shown the red card. No arguments from the player as he quickly left the field. The player later confirmed that he is considering an offer from Hungerford Town FC and looks set to leave Thatcham in the next couple of weeks.

This seem to fire up players from both sides and for the next few minutes the tackles went crashing in reminding everyone that this is a local derby that means so much to both sides.

Drake came to Thatcham's rescue again on 65 minutes as a long throw from Hendren caught the Thatcham back line asleep, Langford nipping in behind taking a touch before firing his strike low at the near post. The keeper pushed the ball away for a corner. From the corner a poor clearing header dropped to Matthews on the edge of the box his goal bound effort was deflected wide. Lambourn were not to be denied any longer, McCready delivering another fantastic cross for Guy this time the winger was composed enough to side foot volley the ball across the keeper and into the far corner. Lambourn Finally getting the lead they deserved.

Lambourn were now keeping the ball well against the ten men and the chances were being created, Langford going close and Matthews hitting the post after some good work by Mooney and Guy. Pedder was now getting behind a tired back four and as he went through one on one with drake the keeper won the battle as he stayed on his feet long enough to allow defenders to get back, When Pedder did shoot it was cleared off the line.

A late tackle by Griffin on Throp resulted in a yellow card for the full back his 3rd of the season.

Pedder was determined to have the last say and on 87 minutes the former Thatcham Town first teamer got his wish, A clever pass from Matthews released the striker and his pace took him clear of the Thatcham defence he showed great composure as he finished in the corner.

3-1 and local bragging rights for the boys from the valley.

MOM Lambourn Langford.

MOM Thatcham Drake.

Manger Robert Clark said that he was pleased with the result and even more pleased with the performance. We now look like a side that can really compete at this level and I hope the players will take the confidence from this result and put a run together. He is hoping to welcome back winger Terry Woods from injury this week & with Club captain Mark Bone due back from long term injury in the next week or so he said the squad is looking in good shape. I am also close to signing James Keller from Fairford Town with just the paperwork left to complete the Manager added.

Lambourn Sports 1-2 Newbury. Derby day heartbreak!!

Starting line Up's. Lambourn: Lee, McCready, Willmoth (c) Pleass, Hendren, Pedder, Matthews, Collins, Wood, Guy & Mooney. Subs Joyce, Griffin, Langford, Bone & Annetts.
Newbury: Gardiner, Langfrey, Jenner, Green, Peters, Piper, Elmore, Lachacz, Livings, Jones (c) Kalejayie. Subs Wickens, Madden, Chapman, Bell & Hill.

Attendance 221.

This local derby had really created a buzz and the club had it's best attendance for many a year. With Langfrey, Livings & Jones all returning to the club they spent time at only last season it was certain to be a high tempo affair. Livings 20 goals last season one of the main reasons why Lambourn returned to the Hellenic League this season.
The game started with the tackles going in as both sides went in search of local bragging rights. It was Newbury who created the first real chance on 8 minutes, Hendren diving in on Piper to give Elmore the chance to hit a pinpoint freekick onto Kalejayie's head but the striker missed the target from 7 yards.
New signing Pedder was starting to get into the game and from a foul on him McCready delived a the ball to the back post. Green stretched to clear it for a corner & from a Mooney delivery Matthews header was cleared off the line. Lambourn seemed to take heart from this and on 25 minutes Pedder cut in from the right and pushed the defenders back into the box, As he went between Peters & Green he appeared to be tripped. The players, Coaching staff & supporters all appealed but the ref was unmoved and waved away the appeals. Lambourn were causing Newbury Problems and the next chance fell to Guy. Some one touch passing between Wood & Hendren down the left created the opening and sent Guy through one on one with Gardnier but the powerful striker was wasteful and his strike missed the target. Lambourn created there last chance of the half on 30 minutes as Langfrey misjudged a cross field pass from McCready, Mooney's touch took him in on goal but the striker wasted the chance as he stabbed it wide.
Newbury have worked hard on set pieces in pre season and on 35 minutes they took the lead because of a well worked free kick. Elmore delivered and Kalejayie lost his man again this time no let off for the home side as his header went past Lee before he could move. Lambourn looked shocked and Newbury took full advantage as they doubled the lead on 38 minutes. Kalejayie showing why Newbury rate him so highly as he turned on the edge of the box and fired home leaving the Keeper with no chance.
Lambourn were feeling frustrated and Pedder let his frustrations show as he talked himself into the ref's notepad. Lachacz tried his luck from 30 yards on 41 minutes but it sailed over the top. As half time approached the main talking point of the game, First Kalejayie was booked for kicking the ball away and then the moment all Lambourn fans feared. Pedder gave the ball away in the middle of the park and the winger dived in to try and win the ball back. A silly challange to make so soon after being booked and the ref decided it worthy of a yellow card meaning Pedder lasted 45 minutes of his debut before seeing red.
Half time and Lambourn feeling frustrated at being 2-0 down.
Some inspirational words from manager Robert Clark at half time meant Lambourn came out for the second half feeling they could still get something from the game & it was the home side who created the first chance. Hendren switching the play to wood who took one touch and delivered a cross to the back post Guy timed his run but missed placed his header from 6 yards. Next was the moment that all Lambourn fans had waited for as Wood ghosted past Peters and drive the ball across the six yard box, Langfrey under pressure from Guy sliced the ball into the back of his own net. No real chances were created in the next 20 minutes as Newbury tried to run the clock down against the ten men. Langford, Joyce & Griffin replaced Wood, Hendren & Guy as injuries and tirdness took there toll. The next real chance fell to Newbury as Livings crossed only for Pleass to slice his clearence against his own cross bar. Wickens seemed to be clean through on 80 minutes but his finish was wild much to the frustrations of his manager. Lambourn's last chance to save a point fell to Griffin as Mooney picked out the pint size midfielder but his header missed the target. The game finished the same way as the first half had with a man being sent from the field. Lachacz over running the ball & diving in saw the ref issue him with a straight red card.
Newbury leaving Bockhampton Road very happy to have kept up there 100% start to the season and looking like title favourites.

Finchampstead 1-5 Lambourn Sports

Starting Line ups, Finchampstead Griffins, Wright, Winship, Green(C) Brown, Kell, Atkinson, Willis, Jones, Pickersgill & Manicom. Subs Rolls, Master & Molld.

Lambourn, Eggleton, Griffin, Willmoth, Pleass, A Hendren, Langford, Matthews, Collins, Wood, Mooney & Guy. Subs Prior, Beale, O'Hagan & Lee.

Lambourn went to Finchampstead still smarting after lasts week second half collapse following the red card to Pleass. The management had picked the boys back up and they seemed in good spirits. Lambourn started the game at a very quick tempo and soon had the Finchampstead back line on the back foot. A quick throw from Hendren to Mooney gave the striker the room to pick out a pinpoint ball to the back post, The onrushing Langford volleyed the ball first time back across the keeper and into the bottom corner. Lambourn had the perfect start a goal up inside the opening five minutes.
Finchamstead's response was instant as the lively Atkinson went past Griffin with ease, As he closed in on Goal Eggleton narrowed the angle and stood up big to pull off a good block. Lambourn were soon on the front foot again as Griffin crossed and Matthews headed over from 10 yards. On 14 minutes Lambourn extended there lead further some good footwork by Collins on the edge of the box gave him space to strike at goal this was blocked and after a clever touch by Mooney the ball fell to Guy who's curling effort from a tight angle left the keeper with no chance. Lambourn were now on top and midfielder Matthews powered by two defenders only to fire his strike just over the top. On 20 minutes Griffin picked up his first booking of the season as he dived in against the skillful Atkinson. This put the fullback under massive pressure following last weeks red card and the skilful nature of the left winger & from the next Finchampstead attack Atkinson went past Griffin and Willmoth to get to the by-line, He pulled the ball back to give Jones the simple task of finishing from 8 yards. This should of given Finchampstead a lift but Lambourn made certain this would not be the case as they made it 3-1 within a minute. A poor back pass from Green left the keeper struggling Langford beat him to the ball and slotted it through his legs. Lambourn were fully in control and it was Wood who created the next chance beating two players and cutting the ball back to Collins who fired over the top. Langford set up Guy on the half hour mark but the powerful striker's clever chip dropped just over the bar. Langford was caught late as he crossed the ball and the free scoring wide man was forced off the pitch.
A race against time for the winger to be fit to face his old side Newbury on Saturday. This seemed to shake Lambourn and it was the home side who enjoyed the better exchanges in the last 15 minutes of the half. A collisions with Eggleton appeared to be a foul all Lambourn players stopped leaving Atkinson with a simple chance but his effort came back off the post and was cleared away. The keeper needed treatment for a couple of minutes. Finchanpstead were putting on the pressure and a long range effort from Willis grazed the cross bar on it's way over. As the half was coming to a close Pleass picked up a booking as he reacted to a late challenge. The No Nonsense defender must watch his discipline record as the suspensions could cost Lambourn later this season. Some good defending by Willmoth kept the score 3-1 at half time.

Some wise words from the management and Lambourn started the second half the way they did the first and had soon got the 4th and kill the game. A long throw from Hendren was flicked on by Guy, Green was caught under the ball and Mooney was left one on one the striker lobbed the ball over the keeper for his 3rd league goal of the season. Green was again at fault on 50 minutes as a long clearance from Eggleton sailed over his head Mooney laid the ball into the path of Matthews the midfielders powerful effort came crashing back off the post with the keeper beaten. It took Lambourn until 60 minutes before they created the next chance. A powerful run from Guy won Lambourn a corner and from a Mooney deliver there was a goal mouth scramble & the ball dropped to Wood. His good touch and quick feet proved to much for Wright who chopped him down to give Lambourn a penalty. Up stepped Griffin who sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 5.

The game was now well over and both sides seem to accept this with not much action in the last half hour. A crunching tackle on Hendren saw him replace by Beale & Griffin was replace by O'Hagan as the management looked to keep 11 players on the field. Matthews found his way into the ref's notepad for a succession of fouls. The last real chance fell to Finchampstead as Beale was caught with a clever pass in behind but Eggleton was quick off his line to block the effort.

A good win that sets them up nicely as they face local rivals Newbury & Thatcham in the next 3 weeks.

MOM Wood.

Manger Robert Clark was pleased with the performance and praised the work rate of Wood. He was pleased that the team reacated so well to the heavy defeat last week. He also commented that although he is happy with the current squad he was looking to add a couple of new faces this week. Rob callled me (Martyn Benson) tonight saying that the paperwork should be completed with Thatcham Town FC in time for Matthew Pedder to be available this week & David Stroud will also return to the squad. Negoations continue with another local player and Rob hopes to have more news tomorrow.

Saturday, 24th September - Away v Rayners Lane, Lambourn lose 5-0, but the scoreline does not tell the true story of the game!

Starting line up - S Annetts, Pleass, A Hendren, A Westall, K Willmoth (c), Griffin, Guy, Prior, Wood, A Mooney, Collins

Lambourn turned up to top of the league Rayners Lane with the sense that they had reached the big time after seeing the home side's impressive newly laid surface, however the boys from the valley would not be over-roared or intimidated by this and settled well into their stride from the first whistle.

In the very first minute Lambourn had a penalty appeal declined after Richie Guy won a header, with the ball falling to veteran Ade Mooney whose shot was blocked by what appeared to be a Rayners Lane defender's arm. The appeals were to no avail as the ref waved play on.

On 5 minutes Rayner Lane had a corner, which was drilled into the near post, however Lambourn's goalkeeper Annetts was aware and also strong to divert the ball out of his area.

After 16 minutes, we see the 1st booking of the game, with a typically robust challenge from Lambourn's hatchet man Pleass. Midfielder Griffin would soon follow into the book, however this appeared harsh as he clearly took the ball.

In the 26th minute, the sublime Mooney delivered a low corner to Guy who volleyed over the bar, this was such a shame as he connected beautifully.

Rayners Lane threatened seriously for the 1st time on 29 minutes as one of the central defenders meandered forward, he was not tracked by anyone and unleashed a powerful shot, which struck the bar.

Local boy Terry Wood showed us some good work on 34 minutes and released Guy through the defence who bobbed and weaved, but could not get a powerful enough shot off. This chance seemed to inspire Lambourn and straight after more impressive footwork from stalwart Ade Mooney who released the dangerous Guy, he just got his toe to the ball ahead of the goalkeeper, the ball appeared to be going towards the far post where former Cyprus international Chrissy Prior was who could have sparked up a pipe while tapping this in the empty net, however amazingly Prior forgot what the objective of the game was and decided to let the ball drift off for a goal kick. Fernando Torres would have been proud of that miss!!!

Another chance for Guy on 42 minutes who after his own good work got a shot off to be thwarted by their goalkeeper who deflected the ball past the far post. From the resultant corner Ade Mooney played a short pass to Prior who gave the ball back to the ageing forward who crossed underneath the goalkeeper where Guy was challenging and headed the ball into the net, only for it to be disallowed by the referee. That was a real let off for Rayners Lane as this seemed a fair challenge by Guy.

Half time and 0-0, Lambourn clearly had the better of the first half, with Richie Guy and local legend Ade Mooney linking up superbly. On this showing is was surprising to belive that the opposition was top of the league!

After their impressive first half, Lambourn unsurprisingly made no changes.

The theme of the 1st half continued as after 51 minutes, Richie Guy made yet another great run, battling through a number of defenders and managing to get the ball to Liam Griffin who shot well only be saved well by the goalkeeper who pushed the ball wide of the near post. Ade Mooney saw a foul when Griffin got his shot off and his demands for a penalty earned him a booking, adding further to his current debt to the club.

On 53 minutes disaster struck for Lambourn as Steven Pleass launched himself into a tackle the only way he knows how and while it looked as though he connected with the ball the ref alleged the tackle to be a dangerous one and gave Pleass his 2nd booking, thus putting the boys from the valley down to 10 men.

3 minutes after the sending off, Rayners Lane right back Damian Cruickshank mounted an attack, played a 1-2 with one of his strikers and finished the return ball well, Rayners Lane were 1-0 up.

Sadly, the loss of a player not only affected their shape, but it completely changed their momentum and gaps were appearing everywhere across the pitch. After 61 minutes Lambourn management tried to prevent this with the introduction of Lloyd Ponsford for Chrissy Prior and also amending the formation to 3 at the back.

It was all Rayner Lane, and they nearly increased their advantage after 63 minutes, however the post came to the rescue of the headed opportunity.

On 70 minutes Richie Guy was replaced by Fraser Joyce, the 65 people on attendance at the game all applauded Guy as he walked off the pitch, proving that you can do more work in 70 minutes of football that you can do in a whole day working on the tarmac!

On 74 minutes, after more intricate passing by RaynersLane, substitute Dene Gardner made it 2-0 for the home team.

Steve Annetts made a great save on 80 minutes at point blank range, he hasn't put a foot wrong all game.

Ranyers Lane go 3-0 up after 83 minutes as Ryan Upton scored after yet another fantastic by Steve Annetts, but the ball fell to Upton who could not miss.

The home side's Ryan Upton scored 2 more goals in the closing minutes of this game making it a final score of 5-0, however this was not a fair reflection of how Lambourn controlled the game for the 1st 55 minutes. Unfortunately, the sending off changed the game completely.

Upon reflection the positives for Lambourn were the 1st half performances of Richie Guy and veteran Ade Mooney. Lambourn finished the game with only 2 at the back and full credit to both Alex Hendren and Kirk Willmoth for their never say die attitude.

Lambourn's man of the match was Alex Hendren who just shaded it given the fact that 1 of his work colleagues had phoned in sick in the morning, consequently Hendren had to complete 2 full paper rounds before running around tirelessly for 90 minutes today.

Managers Clark and Mcnally declined interviews yet again.

Lambourn Res 0-0 Maidenhead

Starting Line Up: Mckeever, Griffin, K Willmoth (c), Pleass, A Hendren, Stroud, Dart, Prior, Langford, Mooney, Wood. Subs Joyce, Beale & Guy.

A game of very few chances as the back fours controlled the game, A point each a fair reflection of the game. Lambourn did create the best two chances of the game, The first a effort by Dart coming back off the bar and Mooney heading over the rebound. The second coming from a long clearence from Mckeever catching out the Maidenhead back four but Mooney's effort was smothered by the Keeper.

The second half was a frantic affair we both sides snapping into tackles and looking for the win. This was all in vein as no real chances were created and both sides seem to settle for the draw after 80 minutes.

Attendance 77

Chalfont 3-2 Lambourn

Starting Line up: S Annetts, Pleass, M Annetts, K Willmoth, A Hendren, Guy, Dart, Langford, Prior, Stroud & Mooney. Subs Griffin, Beale & Joyce.

An excellent Ryan Martindale hatrick in what was otherwise an average performance from the Stingers against a solid Lambourn side enabled Wasps to take all three points, remain unbeaten and, following four straight victories, stay top of the league.

Lambourn had much of the possession, stifled Wasps midfield creativity but were unable to make many of their promising approach play count. The Wasps however looked more dangerous when in the oppositions final third and this was what cost the Visitors in the end. Wasps took the lead after 18 minutes when Martindale received a clever through ball from Simon Williams and, with a superb first touch to get the ball under his spell, cleverly lobbed the advancing keeper from 18 yards. Fred Tripp had the best of the next batch of Wasps chances but was well smothered as a strike looked likely. Lambourn continued to press throughout the 90 minutes and hit the crossbar from a corner just before levelling the score 1-1 through Stroud after 36 minutes. The score remained even come half time.

A heavy shower welcomed players and supporters for the second half and play continued in a similar pattern to the first period with Lambourne once again dominating midfield and the Wasps counter attacks being more threatening. Wasps took the lead once again on the 58 minute mark after some great wing play from Tripp got him behind the visitor’s rear guard and allowed him to find Martindale with a measured cross/pass which was slotted home confidently. As the sunshine resumed Wasps were doing just enough to protect their lead as Lambourn continued to press. Then a poor blind header back to the Wasps keeper fell short and Lambourn’s Dan Longford maximised the error and finished cleverly from a tight angle. 2-2 felt looked a likely and fair outcome with 12 minutes remaining. However, Wasps then sprung into life and started to press Lambourn back into their final third and created some chances. Simon Williams first blazed over with a shot on the turn on 85 minutes and two minutes later Martindale finished off his near perfect hatrick with a well measured downward header at the far post from another Tripp cross. So, Wasps grabbed all three points on the day, made it four wins in four and have netted an impressive 17 league goals already this season.

Wednesday, 24th August - Away v Letcombe, Lambourn lose 3-2

Starting line up - Lee, Pleass, A Hendren, Bone (c), K Willmoth, Griffin, Guy, Matthews, Stroud, A Mooney, Langford

Lambourn were brimming with confidence after their away win at Milton last time out and this was reflected in their football early on as they caressed the ball around with ease and precision. They were soon rewarded for their elegant play after 5 minutes when close friends Hendren and Guy linked up well down the left hand side to set up an early chance for Ben Matthews who missed and easy chance.

The side from the valley's possession continued and another chance fell to club stalwart Ade Mooney who had a point blank shot cleared off the line by a Letcombe defender, which was defended with a hint of handball, the ref said no penalty!

Quiting his job on tarmac has made a significant difference to the game of Richie Guy who was sprightly from the 1st whistle, after 15 minutes he had a shot saved by the home side's goalkeeper, which was parried to Stroud who had his shot blocked from close range. Lambourn should be 3-0 up already!!

It was not until the 28th minute when Letcombe made their 1st threat on the Lambourn goal, when the away team were left exposed down the left hand side and the cross came in, however was met by a poor header from the Letcombe player - would this prove to be a wake up call for Lambourn?

On 34 minutes a reckless challenge came in from Pleass and despite both feet coming off the ground he did not even receive a talking to from the referee, the resultant free kick did however lead to Letcombe going 1-0 up, as the free kick was poorly defended, the ball fell to Joe Kent who supplied the finish.

Lambourn's reply was more or less instant after great work by Griffin who disco-danced through a a number of Letcombe players and then crossed into the box for the predatory skills of Danny Langford to apply the finish. 1-1.

Sadly, after 44 minutes, Lambourn's inspirational leader M Bone came off worse on 50/50 challenge where he appeared to jar his leg. Bone would play no further part and was replaced by local boy Mikey Annetts.

The half time whistle came and it was 1-1, Lambourn were struggling to work out how this was the case after they had all the possession and numerous chances, with Letcombe only really having 2 chances, 1 of which they had converted.

The 2nd half started much the same way as the 1st, with Ben Matthews heading over the bar from a corner, Matthews days as a striker really were looking like a distant memory.

Letcombe's best player was easily Lyle Gifford and on 60 minutes he reminded us why as he weaved in and out of 3 Lambourn defenders and unleashed a powerful shot, leaving Lambourn's new keeper no chance. 2-1 Letcombe.

Straight after the restart, Letcombe created again with a straight forward ball down the middle, however the Letcombe striker was thwarted by the valley keeper.

Managers Clake and McNally were forced into changes and this included the substitution of their goalkeeper who had injured himself conceding Lambourn's 2nd. On came Beale and in goal went utility player Mikey Annetts.

3 minutes after being thrust between the sticks, Annetts came for a cross, which defender Pleass also came for and sadly for Lambourn it was Pleass who got their 1st with his head and scored a screamer into his own net - Andy Gray would have been proud of that bullet header!

On 71 minutes last season's top scorer Joyce came on for Guy.

Lambourn had no choice other than to throw men forward, this built an element of pressure and on 81 minutes during a scramble in the home's area, the goalkeeper tried to clear the ball only to hit it straight at Stroud for it to end up in the net. 3-2 down, we were in for a grandstand finish?

The away team continued to press, however it was is vein as they only got close with a Mooney free kick, which was saved low to the keeper's left hand side.

This was huge disappointment after last week's win away to Milton, it will be left to managers Clarke and McNally to dust his players off and motivate them again for Saturday.

Man of the match - Letcombe's Lyle Gifford
Lambourn's MOM - Kirk Willmoth.

Monday, 15th August - Away v Milton United. Lambourn win 3-2!!!

Starting Line Up - Poulton, Pleass, Hendren, Bone (captain), K Willmoth, Langford, Matthews, Griffin, Beale, Mooney, Stroud.
Despite losing their 1st league game of the season on Saturday. The team from the valley came with 30 travelling fans, assisting with the total attendance of 77.
Lambourn started tentativley and both teams pumped long balls towards either set of back 4's, with captain Bone dealing comfortably for the away side. Milton got into their stride quicker, appearing more comfortable on the ball and playing a more attractive form of football. Local lad and village paper boy, Alex Hendren could take no more, so he went meandering down the left flank taking on 2 Milton players and when in the box crossed to veteran Mooney who laid the ball on a plate to Matthews who caressed the ball in the net. Lambourn 1-0 up, the crowd went wild!
Sadly, the early goal did not settle Lambourn and a suspect backpass from skipper Bone to his goalkeeper, which bounced up led our goalkeeper to handle the ball. The ref blew his whistle, booked Poooey for intentional handling and Milton equalised from the resulting indirect free kick.
For the subsequent 5 minutes Lambourn defended desperatly, until wonderkid, Hendren went on yet another mazey down the left hand side, fed inside to Griffin who earned a free kick. Mooney attempted to catch the Milton goalkeeper off his line, however proceeded to put the ball in the field behind the goal. On 15 minutes Mooney rolled back the years and broke through the home teams defence, unfortunatly he could not control his shot and skied his shot for a 2nd time.
On the half hour mark, Stroud made his 1st impact on the game by winning a 50/50 with the Milton goalkeeper, the ball fell to Mooney down the left hand side who cleverly chipped the ball towards the far post, the goalkeeper managed to guide the ball onto the bar, however the ball fell to Stroud who was rewarded for his own initial good work and calmly scored to put Lambourn back in front.
On 32 minutes, Lambourn's keeper made up for his earlier mistake by putting a rasping Milton shot over the cross bar.
Half time and Lambourn were delighted to be walking off 2-1 up despite not playing the better football or having the bulk of the possession.
The 2nd half got under way and this was the last thing the boys from the valley wanted, poor defending from a Milton free kick allowed a headed equalising goal.
Bizarrely, this goal appeared to galvanise the Labmourn team and they began to look a far better unit, by playing a more attractive brand of football, which saw them increase their possesion.
Sam Connors came on for Beale on the left hand side of midfield after 55 minutes.
Captain Bone had a chance to put his side back in fornt when the ball fell to him in the home side's box, however his shot was well blocked by the goalkeeper.
On 65 minutes, local boy and tarmacer Richard Guy came on for Griffin, this proved to be an inspirational move by Lambourn's management as Guy was released clear to luanch a thunderous shot into the Milton net to put the away team in the lead 3-2.
The game was delayed for 5 minutes after Guy's goal while new nets were replaced into the home side's goal.
Guy was proving to be a handful and was superbly put in by the argumentative Matthews, however could not convert on this occasion.
Lambourn continued to be dominant, which left Milton with no option than to continual foul the Lambourn players. 1 such foul resulted in a Mooney free kick on 83 minutes, which was blasted towards the Milton goal, the shot was too hot for their goalkeeper to handle and it fell to Connors who was a yard out, but unfortunatly his shot did not reach the goal line. What a shame the game could have been out of sight.
The game came towards an end not before the impressive Stroud put Mooney in 1 more time, with only the keeper to beat, however unselfishly rather than go for goal, Mooney decided to play for time and kicked the ball towards the corner flag.
All over and Lambourn are on their way with an impressive 3-2 victory away from home.
Managers Clarke and Macnally declined interviews after the game.
Man of the match - Danny Langford.

Penn and Tyler 2-1 Lambourn

Press report provided by John Grimsdale (Penn & Tyler)

The visitors started at a good pace very eagerly and keen, which was expected. But Penn & Tylers Green FC worked well when Antonio Sepede flicked the ball on and a Wayne Booth header resulted in the vibrant Rino Sepede scoring early on, probably the fastest goal in the league today.

Penn & Tylers Green FC settled down and played well for the next 15 minutes then came a sucker punch from Lambourn Sports FC. The ball was picked up 25 yards out by Mooney, Penn & Tylers Green FC did not react and an excellent strike resulted in an equaliser for the visitors.

Then game went from end to end and our new signing Jamie West had a great chance and the ball went just wide. Penn & Tylers Green FC picked up again but the next – and best – chance fell to Lambourn Sports FC. A mistake at the back let them in but an excellent safe by Matt Cannings kept it at 1:1 at half time.

The opposition started brightly in the second half but never really hurt Penn & Tylers Green FC. We picked up the pace and started to run the game.

A good corner resulted in a near miss by Wayne Booth and Penn & Tylers Green FC started to gain in confidence. But Penn & Tylers Green FC nearly got caught out and another smothering save from Matt Cannings kept thing s even. Giovanni Sepede then made changes and Penn & Tylers Green FC were flying. Michael Benning closed down the opposition defence and a great pass from Chris Hurst released Johnny Mason who finished confidently.

With only a few minutes left Penn & Tylers Green FC saw the game out 2:1. It has been a long time since the 1st Team won their first game of the season.
